I have been busy at the dyepots lately. I bought a coopworth fleece from another etsy shop and I love it! Soooooo soft and such a long fiber. I carded some and didn't think I was going to be able to get it off the drum carder because of the length.

We are also gearing up for Fiber Christmas at the end of July in Kellyville, OK. Kate Lowder of Lowder Farms has been putting this event on for the past 3 years. I am really excited to be able to take part in a show in our area!

Here on the farm it is hot. Really hot. Yesterday was 102 degrees before you factor in the humidity. The cows are standing in the pond, and who can blame them? The sheep are miserable and spend most of the day laying in the shade breathing heavy. I am hearing of some folks losing sheep due to the heat, and I sure hope we don't join their ranks. Stan has been building fence for our new ram pasture, and we are planning to bring home our new Border Leicester ram soon.

Had a calf born to my pet cow, Maggie, Sunday afternoon. Maggie has been my cow since she was born. When she was just a few days old she would walk away from her mamma and come to the fence so I could pet her. She still is friendly, but now it is 1100 pounds of friendly. You have to be careful! Stan keeps a black Angus bull, so she has always had black or very dark brownish black calves, but not this year! She has a beautiful red baby bull with a white blaze down his face! As soon as she begins bringing it up from the far end of the pasture I will post a picture. Too many chiggers to wade out through those weeds for a picture now - just isn't worth it.
