We had an interesting discussion in Sunday School this morning. We are studying Ephesians and this week's lesson came out of Ephesians 5. You guessed it - wives submit to your husbands and husbands love your wife as Christ loves the church. I have no problem with this passage, what it means, or applying it. No, I am not a meek wife that follows her controlling hubby around like a whipped puppy dog. We have a wonderful marriage, and we both pull our own weight: he helps fold clothes, I help build fence, etc. I firmly believe that both spouses have to give to get. The man is the head of the household. The woman needs to be cherished and cared for. I sure wish life could be a little simpler, and I could stay home and care for family and the house, instead of trying to smash it all in after work and on weekends! Speaking of "free" time, it is so nice to be able to stay home at night for a while! Upwards basketball is over for the year. After going to practices twice a week and 2-3 games on Saturday for the last eight weeks, we now only have trap shooting practices on Saturdays. Don't get me wrong - I love the Upwards program, but it takes a time committment. I was able to dye lots of wool this weekend since we didn't have to go anywhere. I also started that circular shawl I was talking about in another post. I tried to take a picture, but it is black, so it didn't show up well. I am on round 57 now.
Here are ten of the eleven rovings I got done. I will try to get them in the store this week.
This is a better picture of the kettle dyed rovings. I am very pleased with the results I got and I plan to make many more in the future.
And just to prove that only the Lord is good at everything He does, here is probably the ugliest roving I have ever dyed.
Every person in my family walked by this one when it was drying on the rack and made a derogatory comment! Oh well, throw a little firestar in it and a run through the drum carder should improve it's looks!
I will do some more dyeing this week, and I hope to get some spinning in, also. With the change in daylight savings time, we lost an hour of sleep. Gracie Lou lost an hour, too, so she is trying to make up for it on the couch!
